The month the mountain opens for climbing and half-hides from everyone else.
July asks two different questions. For climbing, this is the month: the Yoshida Trail opens July 1 and the other trails around July 10. For seeing the mountain from a distance, expect a fight: our July readings average 54/100, with the rainy season lingering into mid-month and summer haze taking over after it. Mornings around 21:00 remain the best bet.

The rainy season typically breaks in mid-to-late July, and what follows is heat. Humid summer air blurs the mountain at distance, and by late morning a cloud cap often forms over the summit even on blue-sky days.
The workable pattern is the same as the rest of summer, only stricter: be at a viewpoint at dawn, expect the view to degrade by mid-morning, and treat afternoons as lost.
The Yoshida Trail opens on July 1, the Subashiri, Gotemba, and Fujinomiya trails around July 10, and the season runs to September 10. The summit is snow-free, huts operate, and sunrise from the top (goraiko) is the payoff that fills the trails.
Climbing and viewing are opposite experiences of the same weather: the haze that ruins a distant photo barely matters above the cloud line. If July is your month, consider climbing it rather than looking at it.
